Woodbridge, VA FRT Sheathing

Woodbridge, VA - FRT (Fire Resistant Treated Wood) was primarily used in the attics of multiple dwelling homes, such as Townhomes and Condominiums, from the late 1970's until probably the mid 1990's. The chemical substance used to treat this wood to make it fire retardant became known to cause premature breakdown of the wood, causing it to rot. As indicated in this photo, although no longer being used, it is still being found and in usually rotted condition. This particular roof, and most roof's found with rotted FRT Sheathing, will require complete roof replacement's.
